AI assist (suggestions & rewriting)
Elevate has optional AI tools throughout the course editor to speed up drafting. AI output should always be reviewed by the faculty member before saving. It does not replace professional judgment or school policy.
All AI features use the course name, description, and discipline as context.
Outcomes tab: Suggest outcomes
Click the Suggest (sparkle) button on the Outcomes tab to generate 5 draft student learning outcomes based on the course name, description, and discipline.
- Each suggested outcome starts with "The student can" followed by a Bloom's Taxonomy action verb.
- The tool takes any existing outcomes into account and will not duplicate them.
- A suggestion panel appears with checkboxes. Check or uncheck individual outcomes, then click Add selected to insert them. Dismiss the panel with the close button to start fresh.
Outcomes tab: Rewrite existing outcomes
Select text within an outcome's editor and look for the AI rewrite button. Two modes are available:
- Improve writing produces clearer, more concise phrasing with the same meaning, in an educator's voice.
- Align to Bloom's Taxonomy rewrites the text so each outcome uses a specific, measurable action verb and follows the "The student can" format.
Resources tab: Suggest resources
Click Suggest Resources on the Resources tab to generate 4 resource suggestions (2 media, 2 textbooks) commonly used for courses in your discipline.
- Media suggestions include a title and a source description (for example, "Documentary series on PBS").
- Textbook suggestions include a title, author, and ISBN where the model is confident the information is correct.
- A suggestion panel appears. Click a suggestion to add it as a resource item, then review and edit the details.
The AI only suggests textbooks it is highly confident exist. ISBNs are only included when the model is certain of the correct edition. Always verify before publishing, as with any AI-generated content.
Units of Focus tab: Generate units
Click Generate Units on the Units of Focus tab to generate 5 unit title suggestions based on the course description.
- A checkboxed panel appears. Select the units you want, then click Add selected to insert them as new units on the tab.
- You can then add sub-items (essential questions, subtopics, skills) inside each unit manually.
AI features require a network connection to the Elevate backend. If a feature is unavailable, try again later or continue editing manually. Contact your administrator if the issue persists.
