Additional course connections (merging)
Sometimes a course should appear in more than one place on the map. For example, the same class might count toward two pathways. Merges (supplemental parent links) add those extra relationships without duplicating the course card.
Before you start
-
Navigate to the Course Map page (admin only).
-
Use Edit mode so you can see per-card actions. Each card shows a + (add) control and an M (merge) control when you hover.
-
Pan and zoom the same way as elsewhere: drag to move the map, scroll or pinch to zoom.
Add a merge link
-
Hover the course you want to attach an additional parent to (the "hub" course).
-
Click the M (merge) control on that card. A popover lists other courses you can connect.
-
Choose a target course. This creates a merge link where the hub course shows a supplemental connection to the target, drawn on the map as an extra path into the hub.
-
Click Save Changes when you are finished editing the map.
Remove merge links
Open the same M popover on the hub course. The popover shows outgoing merge links (this course connecting to other courses) and incoming links (other courses that merge into this one). Use the remove icon next to a link to delete it, then click Save Changes.
Merges are for map structure only. They do not replace normal prerequisite or sequencing data inside the course editor.
